Tour of Britain Cycle Route
This nationwide cycle event starts today (8th September) in far away Rochdale and finishes in London on 18th. Stage 5 of the eight-day Tour hits well into Somerset, setting out from Tavistock on 15th September at 10.00 hrs and finishing in Glastonbury at 14.00 hrs. Wow, a whole 4 hours - how do they do that? Taking in Dartmoor, the Exeter fringes, Cullompton and the Blackdown Hills along the way, the riders race into South Somerset near Chard, on to Ilminster, then Langport (ETA 13.37) and Somerton, finishing off the day at Glastonbury.

Somerset Art Weeks 2010
210 venues and 285 artists and makers are taking part in Open Studio events across the county during the weeks 18th September to 3rd October. South Somerset seems particularly rich in creative people with - by far - the largest number of venues of the five district areas. It’s a pleasure just looking at the Art Weeks programme. Visiting the studios will be better. The SAW programme is FREE from Tourist Information Centres and libraries or look at www.somersetartworks.org.uk
